Thank you, members of the Texas Retired Teachers Association (TRTA), for celebrating Foundation Month—a time to honor the charitable work of our partner organization, the Texas Retired Teachers Foundation (TRTF).
This week, we highlight two of TRTF’s longstanding programs that support active educators: First-Year Teacher Scholarships and Classroom Assistance Grants.
El First-Year Teacher Scholarship helps new educators purchase classroom materials as they begin their teaching journey. Since 2008, TRTF has awarded more than $225,000 in scholarships to support these dedicated professionals and will award 40 $1,000 scholarships for 2026-2027.
El Classroom Assistance Grant provides funds to Texas public school teachers who go above and beyond in their daily commitment to education—creating innovative programs, special events, and unique learning opportunities for students. Since 2008, TRTF has awarded more than $248,000 in grants to these exceptional educators and will award 50 $1,000 grants for 2026-2027.
Scholarship and Grant applications are available now at www.trtf.org! The deadline to apply is Friday, January 9, 2026, and winners will be announced in February.
Your donations support teachers so they can help students develop real-world skills and provide them with a caring, creative community to explore their futures! Please consider making your end-of-the-year, tax-deductible donation to TRTF by donating online at www.trtf.org/donate or mailing a check to: TRTF, 313 East 12th Street Suite 220, Austin, Texas 78701.
