TRTA is excited to announce our Day at the Capitol on Wednesday, March 26, 2025! All members are welcome!<\/strong><\/p>

As TRTA continues preparations for this exciting event, we ask that members please submit their registration. For the first time, boxed lunches will be available, in addition to our popular ice cream social, featuring Amy\u2019s Ice Cream, <\/b>completely complimentary! Your registration helps us collect an accurate headcount.<\/p>

Please let your fellow retirees know about Day at the Capitol and encourage them to attend! We want as many TRTA members as possible rallying on the East Lawn on March 26!<\/p>

What to Do Now!<\/strong><\/h4>

Coming to the Texas Capitol is an exciting experience, but members should be prepared. Once legislative session begins, we ask that members reach out to their legislators to schedule a time to meet on March 26, either in the morning or after the ice cream social. Please use the Texas Legislature Online website<\/a> to find contact information for your legislators.<\/p>

If you\u2019re planning to meet with your legislator, let us know the time and location of your appointment by emailing info@trta.org<\/a>. TRTA may be able to send a staff photographer to your meeting (available on a first come, first-served basis).<\/p>

Remember to WEAR RED<\/strong>, wear comfortable shoes, and view a map of the Capitol<\/a> before arriving.<\/p>

Tentative Schedule<\/strong><\/h4>

7:00 a.m. – 8:00 a.m.
<\/strong>Arrive on the East Lawn and collect items to give to your legislators.<\/p>

8:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m.
<\/strong>Attend your scheduled visits and take photos with your legislators or their staff members.
Invite them to the ice cream social at Noon!<\/span><\/p>

9:30 a.m.
<\/strong>Head to the House Gallery on the third floor to hear the resolution honoring TRS retirees.
If the gallery is full, consider going to the Senate gallery instead.<\/p>

10:30 a.m.
<\/strong>Head to the Senate Gallery on the third floor to hear the resolution honoring TRS retirees.<\/p>

12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.
<\/b>Head to the East Lawn to enjoy a complimentary boxed lunch and our popular ice cream social, featuring Amy\u2019s Ice Cream!
Many legislators will also join us and will often speak.<\/p>

2:00 p.m.
<\/strong>If you did not have a chance to visit with your legislator, this is a good time to do so and a great way to end a wonderful day!<\/p>
