{"id":60280,"date":"2021-05-07T15:38:40","date_gmt":"2021-05-07T20:38:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/trta.org\/?p=60280"},"modified":"2021-05-07T15:38:40","modified_gmt":"2021-05-07T20:38:40","slug":"cost-of-living-adjustment-talking-points","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/trta.org\/es\/cost-of-living-adjustment-talking-points\/","title":{"rendered":"Cost-of-Living Adjustment Talking Points"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Texas Retired Teachers Association (TRTA) is pushing for a cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) or a supplemental payment for retired educators this legislative session! <a href=\"https:\/\/capitol.texas.gov\/tlodocs\/87R\/billtext\/pdf\/HB03214H.pdf#navpanes=0\" data-cke-saved-href=\"https:\/\/capitol.texas.gov\/tlodocs\/87R\/billtext\/pdf\/HB03214H.pdf#navpanes=0\">HB 3214<\/a>, the COLA bill with the most traction at this time, has still not been set for debate by the full Texas House. <a href=\"https:\/\/capitol.texas.gov\/BillLookup\/History.aspx?LegSess=87R&amp;Bill=HB3507\" data-cke-saved-href=\"https:\/\/capitol.texas.gov\/BillLookup\/History.aspx?LegSess=87R&amp;Bill=HB3507\">HB 3507<\/a>, the supplemental payment bill with the most traction at this time, has also not been set for debate by the full Texas House.<\/p>\n<p>TRTA is encouraging its members to contact their legislators and show support for these bills! <a href=\"https:\/\/trta.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/TRTA-COLA-UPDATE-1.pdf\" data-cke-saved-href=\"https:\/\/trta.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/TRTA-COLA-UPDATE-1.pdf\">TRTA has developed a document with talking points on why retirees need a COLA now<\/a>! Stay tuned to the <em>L\u00ednea interior<\/em>, as next week we will be providing an Action Alert on this very important subject.<\/p>\n<p>TRTA Executive Director Tim Lee, TRTA Legislative Coordinator Larry Yawn, and TRTA State Legislative Committee Chair Nancy Byler hosted a Facebook Live event today.
