The largest wildfire in Texas history has burned more than 1 million acres in the Panhandle.<\/p>\n

A disaster declaration has been issued to 60 counties\u00a0as people have lost their homes, crops, and livestock.<\/p>\n

The Texas Retired Teachers Association (TRTA) already is aware of significant losses suffered by members to their homes and property. Some of the photos shared below show the significant damage to the homes of TRTA members.<\/p>\n

Members, we are asking for your help!\u00a0Will you please consider donating to the Texas Retired Teachers Foundation’s (TRTF) Disaster Relief Fund?\u00a0<\/strong>Donate here<\/a>! If you need any donation assistance, please contact TRTF Senior Operations and Programs Advisor Sarah Richardson. Sarah may be reached via email at\u00a0sarah@trta.org<\/a>\u00a0or toll-free at 1.800.880.1650 extension 104.<\/p>\n

TRTF is the charitable partner organization of TRTA. The TRTF\u00a0Disaster Relief Fund<\/a> is providing grants to retired and active educators impacted by these wildfires.<\/p>\n

The more money we raise, the more people we can help.<\/strong> TRTF will be providing as many grants as possible from the fund to help\u00a0Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS) members who are living in the Panhandle area and impacted by the wildfires.<\/p>\n
