Members of the Texas Retired Teachers Association (TRTA), the November General Election is approaching quickly! As we head into the 89th<\/sup> Legislative Session that begins in January, it\u2019s important for our members to make a plan to vote!<\/p>\n

The first step in preparing for the election is to ensure you are registered or that your voter registration is up to date. The deadline to register or update your information, such as your address, is today, Oct. 7!<\/strong><\/p>\n

Check Your Voter Registration<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Check to see if you\u2019re registered and verify your information through the Texas Secretary of State\u2019s website<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Get Prepared for the Election!<\/strong><\/h4>\n

We encourage our members to vote early and to bring along friends, family members, and neighbors to the polls. Review your ballot<\/a> ahead of time and make a plan!<\/p>\n

After you view your registration status on the Sitio web de la Secretar\u00eda de Estado<\/a>, you can view your polling locations and early voting hours. VoteTexas.org<\/a> is another great resource for voting information.<\/p>\n

Share TRTA\u2019s Priorities and Connect with Candidates!<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Candidates all over the state are busy campaigning. There will be many new faces in the Texas Legislature in 2025, and it\u2019s time to put on your educator hats! TRTA members are the best at educating candidates on the needs of Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS) retirees and at building relationships with elected officials.<\/p>\n
