Meet TRTA Member and Biltmore Christmas Trip Winner, Bette Babers!
The Texas Retired Teachers Association (TRTA) partnered with Association Member Benefits Advisors (AMBA) and Boscov’s Travel to give one lucky TRTA member and one guest a trip to Asheville, North Carolina: A Biltmore Christmas!
Bette Babers grew up in a small town in northeast Texas called Honey Grove and went to college at what is now Texas A&M Commerce. She spent nine years in the classroom teaching fifth through eighth grade. After she received her master’s degree in library science, she became an elementary school librarian for Granbury ISD, where her husband Ron was also a principal. Bette and Ron now live in Montgomery to be close to family.
Bette has been an at-large member of TRTA since 2013. She says, “TRTA is so supportive of retired teachers and their needs. Their hard work recently with getting the cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) passed impacted so many retirees in such a positive way.”
When Executive Director Tim Lee called Bette to let her know she won the trip, she didn’t believe it at first! “I was completely flabbergasted and amazed!”
Bette says, “Winning the trip was so timely and such a blessing as I’ve had a rough recovery due to a broken ankle. Thank you for being so generous with this trip and giving it away and drawing my name! It’s just wonderful and I can’t wait to enjoy it!”
Bette and her husband Ron will be enjoying A Biltmore Christmas in Asheville, North Carolina, this December!
