Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D – NY) is set to call for a vote on repealing the Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP) and Government Pension Offset (GPO) this week. During the recent WEP/GPO rally in Washington D.C., Schumer announced that he would bring the Social Security Fairness Act (HR 82/S. 597) to the floor for a vote.
The Texas Retired Teachers Association (TRTA) is calling on its members to use this Action Alert to email their Texas Senators today!
TRTA is still in positive discussions and is hoping to win the support of the Texas Senators.
When calling the Texas Senators, please be courteous, time conscious, direct, and ask for their help and their vote. TRTA respects the work they are doing, and we want to secure their support.
Please use Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), and any other contacts you have in Texas or around the country to rally additional support and momentum for the repeal of WEP and GPO.
In 42 years, we have never been closer to winning than today. Let’s do our part to galvanize our fellow educators, police, firefighters, military, and federal employees who are impacted by these unfair, egregious Social Security provisions.
