A la SB 6 se le acaba el tiempo para ser aprobada

The Texas Legislature has adjourned sine die for the fourth called special session. Senate Bill 6, the measure that would have expedited the court challenges to the outcomes of the November 7 General Election, passed out of the Senate on Friday, December 1, but was not added to the special session call and did not receive a hearing in the Texas House of Representatives.

The Texas Retired Teachers Association (TRTA) thanks our members for their grassroots advocacy in favor of SB 6. Ultimately, there was not enough time left on the clock to achieve a win on this measure. TRTA is undeterred! We are ready to work with elected leaders if Governor Abbott chooses to add reforming the process governing election challenges to constitutional amendments in any future special session.

For now, TRTA will follow the pending court actions on the lawsuits that have been filed and we will update our members as developments occur.

In addition, the Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS) has updated its website with new information about the COLA. According to TRS, “Once the election is certified, TRS has the ability to ensure back payments are made if the issuance of the COLA is delayed.”

Por favor ayuden a mantener fuerte la TRTA unirse o renovar su membresía hoy!
