TRTA Wishes You a Happy Thanksgiving

Dear Inside Line Subscribers,

I love the Thanksgiving holiday. Of course, I love being with family, enjoying the food and watching football!

As we begin to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday at TRTA, I wanted to let you know that we have finished our update on the TRS-Care Sustainability Study and will send it out on Monday, December 1.

We know that many of you are engaged with your family, preparing festivities and enjoying your own Thanksgiving traditions. Our website features the TRS-Care study update. If you would rather enjoy this time and resume your study of the TRS-Care situation next week, please know the email will hit your inbox next Monday.

One final thought about TRS-Care. It is a difficult challenge we will face in the upcoming session; however, TRTA members should be encouraged that we have many friends in the Texas Legislature and they already are asking good questions and thinking of the best ways to deal with this crisis. Now is not the time to think that all hope is lost! Now is the time to believe in yourself and your fellow TRTA members. We can and will resolve this crisis!

TRTA believes the best advocates in the state are our members! There is a lot of work to be done. We are a results-oriented organization, and with your help and membership support we are ready for the upcoming TRS-Care challenge.

Now, it is my privilege to bring you this special greeting from the TRTA family.

Giving Thanks for our Members and Contributors

Thank you for your membership to the Texas Retired Teachers Association (TRTA), and thank you for your support of the Texas Retired Teachers Foundation’s (TRTF) charitable endeavors. Our very existence is dependent upon YOU!

As TRTF’s Foundation Month comes to a close, we hope you have found the “Making a Difference” video series informative and inspiring. November may be the month that we focus on making donations to the Foundation, but it is just the beginning of our charitable endeavors for the fiscal year.

No other charitable groups are working harder to protect Texas retired and active public school employees than TRTA and TRTF. Our dedicated volunteers, the leadership of the Foundation trustees and your donations are making a difference in thousands of lives.

We are all asked to give donations to a variety of worthy causes during the holidays.

Our TRTA members and a growing number of business partners have made TRTF a priority over the years. We are grateful beyond words for your generosity.

As the prominence of programs such as “A Helping Hand” have increased, so has the need for TRTF’s outreach. Many of our fellow retired educators are in desperate financial need, and experience challenging circumstances as the weather becomes cooler. With your help and support, we are making a difference in their lives as well as the lives of active teachers.

We are so thankful for family, friends and the privilege to work with TRTA and TRTF. There are those who struggle to make ends meet, pay repair bills or deal with unforeseen medical issues. Quite frankly, there are many who wonder what there is to be thankful for.

It’s for these reasons and many others that our Foundation exists. We provide real hope and action to improve the lives of those in need. We can do this through your gift. It is why we focused on the Foundation in the most recent issue of our news bulletin, La voz—to demonstrate the good works and ask for your help.

TRTF focuses on raising its needed revenue for a few short months of the year. We do not bombard our members constantly for ongoing donations. We do our best to respect your generosity and commitment.

As we wrap up these special Línea interior messages about TRTF, it is our sincere hope that you will think about the lives we are able to help through your charitable gifts.

Please help give retired educators in need something to be thankful for during these holidays. Please donate to TRTF online, or call 1.800.880.1650 and ask for Dawn or Shala.

If you would like to know more about making special donations to TRTF or if you are in need of help from one of our Foundation programs, please contact our office.

Thank you again and Happy Thanksgiving.

Sincerely,

Tim Lee

Executive Director, TRTA

State Coordinator, TRTF
