Texas Retired Teachers Association (TRTA) Executive Director Tim Lee will be live on Facebook and YouTube on Friday, January 31 at 2:00 p.m. Central. TRTA members are able to view these events on the TRTA Facebook page and YouTube channel and do not need to have an account to view these events.
This week’s show will cover the latest updates on the implementation of H.R. 82, the Social Security Fairness Act, which repealed the Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP) and the Government Pension Offset (GPO). The Social Security Administration has provided some additional information about the implementation on their website here.
Tim will also review some facts and figures about Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS) annuitants and the many benefits our public education retirees provide to the state. This information will also be given to our Texas Senators and Representatives as TRTA advocates for retirees during the 89th Legislative Session, which is underway now!
