The Texas Retired Teachers Association’s (TRTA) Executive Director Tim Lee will be live on Facebook and YouTube tomorrow Nov. 11 at 4 p.m. Central to discuss the latest news regarding the Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP) and Government Pension Offset (GPO).
The Texas Retired Teachers Association (TRTA) wishes our members, supporters, and friends a happy Veterans Day tomorrow! While you are honoring those who have served our country, we hope you will also take a moment to read our quick update about the Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP) and Government Pension Offset (GPO).
As you may have read last week, TRTA Executive Director Tim Lee was in Washington, D.C., along with our coalition partners from Mass Retirees to fight for the passage of HR 82, which would repeal WEP and GPO if passed.
Lee and Shawn Duhamel (of Mass Retirees) recorded the following video update to let you know where things stand now and what to expect as the fight for HR 82 continues.
TRTA will continue working alongside Mass Retirees, our friends at the Association of Texas Professional Educators (ATPE), and the broader education and public service retiree and active employee community to advance repeal of WEP and GPO before this congressional cycle is over.
The effort to force repeal through is underway and will continue when Congress comes back to work this week. TRTA will be involved every step of the way, and we may call on our members and friends to ask for their support!
