Mark your calendars for Tuesday, February 13! Tim Lee, the Texas Retired Teachers Association’s (TRTA) Executive Director, will host a Facebook and YouTube live event at 4 p.m. CDT.
As TRTA members know, the Primary Election is fast approaching! TRTA has an important message for all members: Get Out the Vote!
With the successful passage of Proposition 9 in the November 2023 General Election, TRTA members have proven, beyond any doubt, that retired educators and their votes MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
We showed up at the polls, we spread the word to our family members, friends, neighbors, and community leaders, and we helped pass Prop 9 by the largest margin of any amendment on the ballot. We even brought folks along with us to the polls so they could cast their votes!
There are nearly 500,000 TRS retirees and more than 1 million active educators. Our issues matter, and our votes matter!
Very few people show up to vote DURING THE PRIMARY ELECTIONS, but TRTA MEMBERS WE MUST SHOW UP. Last legislative session our Texas Legislature had the most PRO-Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS) track record in two decades.
This is a great time to demonstrate that TRTA and its membership know that voting for those who voted for us is integral in working on future legislative agenda items.
A lack of interest is the enemy in any election, and especially in a Primary Election! Historically, a very small percentage of voters show up at the polls in March. However, most elections in Texas are actually DETERMINED in the Primary!
Please join us as Tim discusses TRTA’s plans to help Get Out the Vote during this Primary Election season!
Watching TRTA live events is easy! Just click on TRTA’s Facebook page or YouTube channel. These live events are recorded and are viewable after airing from the same links provided.
Thank you for being a member of TRTA. We are asking members to please renew their dues with TRTA if they have not done so already. If you know someone who is not a member, please invite them to join us! There is strength in numbers and the surest way for us to accomplish success is to grow the organization.
