Dear Texas Retired Teachers Association (TRTA) Members,
Thank you for your membership and continued support.
In this very active election cycle, TRTA members have asked to hear directly from candidates running for Texas elected office. More than any other position in this election cycle, our members have asked to hear from the candidates running for Texas Governor.
Thanks to the candidates and their teams, TRTA is proud to connect our members with Governor Greg Abbott (Republican) and Representative Gina Hinojosa (Democrat), allowing you to hear directly from each candidate in their own words on issues we know are important to you.
TRTA recently sat down with Representative Gina Hinojosa, and her full podcast discussion will be released today at 5 p.m. Central.
Our team is scheduled to sit down with Governor Abbott on Friday, October 16, and that full discussion will be released as soon as the interview concludes.
TRTA worked to have both discussions released at the same time, but scheduling conflicts required us to adjust the recording dates.
Please know that TRTA focused its questions on TRS funding, TRS retirees’ inflationary concerns, and each candidate’s views on the future of public education in Texas.
While we know many of our members have a wide range of perspectives on public policy issues, we believed it was most appropriate to represent our association’s mission to protect, improve, and ensure the retirement security of Texas education retirees and future retirees.
