In April, the Texas Retired Teachers Foundation (TRTF) launched its first ever Virtual Walk to raise funds to support its mission of providing funds to TRS annuitants as well as active school personnel. To date, this event has raised more than $20,000, but it’s not too late to participate! The TRTF Board of Trustees has determined that this event will be extended until September 1!
As a virtual event, anyone can be a participant and decide when and where they want to walk, based on what is convenient for them. TRTA districts and local chapters are encouraged to walk together as teams or invite local businesses or organizations to participate as well, or to be a sponsor. Participants can make a donation using a flat amount (for example, $25) or choose to raise funds based on how far they want to walk (for example, donating $5 per half-mile). This decision will be entirely up to the participant(s). We encourage you to be creative and fun!

The TRTF Board of Trustees, along with TRTF Senior Operations and Programs Advisor Sarah Richardson, met in Austin this summer to discuss program updates, bylaws revisions, fundraising plans for 2024, and many other Foundation activities.
