- NEW ACTION ALERT: Email Texas Senators Cornyn and Cruz
The Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) released a letter describing a recent meeting with President-elect Donald Trump on December 16. The FOP reports that President-elect Trump is standing with public workers by supporting full repeal of the Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP) and Government Pension Offset (GPO).
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer has indicated that a vote will take place tomorrow, Dec. 18, at 1 p.m. Central.
The Texas Retired Teachers Association (TRTA) expresses our appreciation to President-elect Trump for his commitment to this issue and to the FOP for their meeting with him and providing the update.
TRTA members, we have all worked diligently to earn the support of our Texas Senators, John Cornyn and Ted Cruz. Thank you for taking the time to communicate in a respectful and direct way.
TRTA is calling on Senators Cornyn and Cruz to consider President-elect Trump’s support of repealing WEP and GPO and vote “Yes” when H.R. 82 comes to the floor for a vote. TRTA is proud of our working partnerships with Senators Cornyn and Cruz and we look forward to continuing discussions with them about these important Social Security issues.
Now is the time to vote to repeal the WEP and GPO! This is a historic moment! Let’s put an end to WEP and GPO once and for all!
