November is Foundation Month, and the Texas Retired Teachers Foundation (TRTF) is excited to celebrate the difference we make in the lives of Texas public school personnel, retirees, and their families!
As the charitable partner of the Texas Retired Teachers Association (TRTA), TRTF is dedicated to providing financial support, encouragement, and assistance to active and retired Texas public school personnel. Through the generosity of our donors and supporters, we can step in when help is needed most.
This month, we invite you to learn more about our programs, share our mission with others, and help us spread the word about the resources available through TRTF.
“A Helping Hand”: Assistance When It’s Needed Most
Life can bring unexpected challenges, especially during retirement. TRTF’s “A Helping Hand” program provides financial assistance to retirees collecting an annuity from the Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS) who are experiencing a special need or short-term financial hardship.
Since its launch in 2010, “A Helping Hand” has provided more than $300,000 in assistance to retirees facing difficult circumstances.
Eligible applicants may receive up to $2,500 in one-time assistance to help with qualifying expenses such as medical and dental bills, home and auto repair, utilities, and more. You do not have to be a TRTA member to apply.
Disaster Relief: Helping Retirees Recover
When disaster strikes, the road to recovery can feel overwhelming. Through its Disaster Relief program, TRTF provides financial assistance to retirees collecting an annuity from TRS who are impacted by qualifying disasters.
From devastating floods and wildfires to other widespread disasters, TRTF works to provide relief when retirees need it most.
Through the generosity of our supporters, TRTF has awarded more than $500,000 in Disaster Relief assistance, helping retirees rebuild and recover after difficult events.
