Early Voting Begins October 24, Educator Voting Day is October 27

Early voting for the November General Election begins next week! The Texas Retired Teachers Association (TRTA) is your one-stop shop for voting safely and finding non-partisan information on how, when, and where to cast your vote.

TRTA urges members to plan ahead and apply for a mail-in ballot, if eligible. The deadline to apply for a mail-in ballot is October 28.

If you plan to vote in person, make a plan to vote early to avoid longer lines and take a family member, friend, or neighbor with you! Consider voting on Educator Voting Day on Thursday, October 27!

Be aware of election deadlines and take steps to ensure you are ready to vote in General Election 2022!

    • As you decide which candidates deserve your vote, please take a look at the TRTA 2023 Legislative Priorities. These may be useful to you as you determine which candidates at the state and federal levels support issues that impact retired Texas public school personnel.
  • COLA Talking Points
    • Ask candidates running for the Texas Legislature if they will commit to funding a meaningful, substantial cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) for Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS) retirees. Use the COLA Talking Points when visiting with candidates about why a COLA for TRS retirees is needed now!

Many TRTA local chapters are conducting candidate forums at their meetings. Ask for details from your local chapter president if you already are a local member or contact a local chapter near you for more information. Candidate forums are a great way to get your questions answered before you vote.
