Before the COVID-19 pandemic prompted the Texas Retired Teachers Association (TRTA) to make all state, district, and local meetings and events virtual through the end of 2020, our leadership already was busy exploring technologies that would enhance our members’ experience and attract new supporters.
With the added push to keep members safe, informed, and still able to communicate with one another, the importance of connecting digitally became urgent. Now, TRTA has an app for that!
Introducing a TRTA mobile app could not have come at a better time! Our new app can be used year-round and seamlessly interfaces with current TRTA technologies and databases. The Board of Directors and other officers already have gotten a sneak peek, and many districts unveiled this new tool at their fall conferences. Now, it’s your turn!
How to Download the TRTA App
The app is available on both Android and Apple devices, including cellular phones and tablets, but does not have an interface for computers at this time.
Download the TRTA app to by going to your device’s app store and searching for “TRTA” or by using the links below.
Once you have downloaded the app, you will be asked to sign in using the same credentials you use on the TRTA website.
For most users, your username is your membership ID number and your password is trta123 (all lowercase, no spaces). If you need assistance re-setting your username or password, please contact the membership department at membership@trta.org.
Not a member? Not a problem! The TRTA app is also available for non-members who want to see what TRTA is about before joining. Simply download the app, create a profile, and log in. The TRTA app has something for everyone. When you are ready to join—or renew, in the case of existing members—you can do so directly through the app!
App Features and Highlights
With one app, you will be able to stay connected with your peers and fellow retirees every day! Highlights include:
- Push Notifications: Never miss a beat by receiving push notifications (similar to text messages) directly to your phone
- Forums: Discuss TRTA-related or lifestyle topics and stay connected with fellow retirees in this increasingly disconnected time
- Resources: Access the library to download membership forms and documents that every member needs

- Directory: Find other app users you can network with, regardless of your geographic location
- Events: Explore the calendar of upcoming (virtual) TRTA events
