Johnson-Somervell Counties Retired School Employees Association is dedicated to supporting education in Texas. Our unit supports education by being politically active, volunteering at schools, and awarding grants to teachers and a scholarship to a graduating Senior. We also volunteer our time in varied community services, update our members on legislative news and member benefits, provide retirement education and planning for retirees-to-be. We actively pursue healthy living, recruit new members, as well as keeping our unit informed of scams and safety issues. We publicize our activities so all can see what we do and how much fun we have at our meetings.
In addition, we meet the second Wednesday of each month at St. Mark United Methodist Church, 1109 Henderson Street, usually at 10am. We have interesting and varied programs with special speakers. We conclude each program with a drawing for door prizes. We are a wonderful mix of retired active educators looking forward to meeting new people who have dedicated their lives to teaching and education.
