TRTA’s Leadership Arrives In Washington D.C., Calls On Congressional Representatives to Take Action

The Texas Retired Teachers Association’s (TRTA) leadership has arrived in Washington D.C. The leadership, which includes Executive Director Tim Lee, is working with Texas congressional representatives to reform the Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP).

Our goal is to gain traction on both Rep. Richie Neal’s bill (H.R. 4540) and Rep. Kevin Brady’s bill (H.R. 3934). Now is the time to reform the WEP! If you haven’t already, use our action alert to contact your representative.

Already, TRTA’s leadership has met with numerous Texas representatives, including Sylvia Garcia and Filemon Vela Jr. TRTA’s leadership is meeting tomorrow with Rep. Kevin Brady and Sen. Ted Cruz, as well as additional representatives.

TRTA will need the full strength of its membership to overturn the WEP, which has plagued retired educators since its inception in 1984. Stay tuned to the Línea interior, as we will have more updates in the coming days.

The Texas Retired Teachers Association exists to protect your TRS retirement and fights to make it better. Please consider becoming a member and joining the largest community of TRS retirees in the nation.
