November is Foundation Month!

The Texas Retired Teachers Foundation (TRTF) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that works to provide resources for retired TRS annuitants, as well as active school personnel. It is the charitable partner of the Texas Retired Teachers Association (TRTA).

The Foundation manages four charitable programs, “A Helping Hand,” Disaster Relief, Classroom Assistance Grants, and First-Year Teacher Scholarships, as well as an endowment fund. Since 2008, more than $910,000 has been given to educators across Texas to better their lives.

November has been designated as Foundation Month, a time to share positive news about how you and your fellow retirees are helping TRTF impact the future of education every day! TRTF is also using this time to conduct its annual fundraising campaign.

TRTF Visits 2023-2024 Classroom Assistance Grant Winner

TRTF had the privilege of visiting Classroom Assistance Grant winner Amy Coco who teaches fifth grade at Trivium Academy in Carrollton. Ms. Coco created a video documentary about the Civil War with her grant funds. She purchased costumes and props, including soldier uniforms, toy weapons, and bugle horns. Her students will study a battle, create a story board, reenact the event acting as historical figures, then film and edit their project to create the documentary.
